If you run a hair or beauty salon, keeping control of the tax side can become a real critical issue. Between cash takings, electronic payments that are not always automatically tracked, and cash register systems that are often out of alignment, the risk of errors or oversights is high, as is the risk of incurring penalties. Regulations change from year to year, with ever-new guidance, and now this includes the obligation to issue an electronic receipt. If in the past some businesses with lower turnover could benefit from exemptions, today these exceptions are no longer valid. The issuing of electronic receipts for beauty salons and hairdressers is mandatory for everyone, even when payment is made in cash, and the data must be transmitted to the Revenue Agency.

From 1 January 2026, another obligation will also come into force: that of integrating the POS with telematic cash registers (RT) or with software that certifies turnover. Every electronic payment, therefore, will have to automatically generate a valid fiscal document. This rule aims to improve the traceability of electronic payments and to combat tax evasion. Here is how hairdressers and beauticians can adapt to this new regulatory framework.

How to comply with the new 2026 electronic receipt rules with A-Cube APIs

Also for hairdressers and beauty salons, as for the other businesses, from 2026 it will no longer be enough to have a POS and a cash register separate from each other. These will have to talk to each other and allow the sending of turnover data automatically at the end of the day. The regulation provides hardware-based and software-based solutions. The latter are based on two processes called PEM and PEL: we talked about them in this article, useful if you want to delve into the technical aspects.

Integrating digital receipts into daily workflows can seem difficult and expensive. Many people wonder whether, in order to work in compliance, they need to update or replace their software and management systems. Or look for other digital solutions specific to beauty centres and hair care. Among the doubts, there is the one relating to the ways to verify the technical compatibility between POS and telematic cash register, especially if supplied by different partners. This misalignment, in fact, could entail additional costs and a slowdown in daily payments, with further loss of time.

Yet, in practice, the fiscal adaptation of beauty salons and hairdressers can be extremely simple. To update everything without changing existing software and without investing a fortune, just adopt A-Cube's API-first solution.

Let's take a small step back. APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) are nothing more than a set of rules that allow different software to talk to each other. Through APIs, management systems and payment systems, for example, can interact and exchange data, automate operations and transmit documents.

At A-Cube, we have already developed an API dedicated to electronic receipts that is ready for 2026. Here's how it works.

A-Cube Smart Electronic Receipt: how A-Cube's API works

The Smart Electronic Receipt API developed by us at A-Cube enables the issue of receipts with the telematic cash register and sends commercial documents to the Revenue Agency automatically. From 2026, it will also make it possible to send turnover data automatically at the end of the day

Integrating the API is very simple. At the moment, A-Cube must be appointed to send commercial documents to the Revenue Agency. This can be done from the Revenue Agency's Invoices and Fees portal. From 2026 this further step will no longer be necessary.

How does the Smart Electronic Receipt API work? Through a centralised dashboard that allows commercial documents to be sent online (the electronic receipt) and any cancellation or return documents. From the dashboard it is possible to access the list of electronic receipts, which can be filtered by acquisition date, sending date, status and document number. For each document, it is possible to obtain the details in JSON format and a PDF printout.

Documents and requests sent to the Revenue Agency are stored in ISO 27001-certified storage in a data centre within the European Union. All files and data handled are kept in A-Cube's storage for 6 months. The simplest way to manage the obligation to issue electronic receipts for beauty salons and hairdressers.

Benefits of integrating the Smart Electronic Receipt API

One of the strengths of the Smart Electronic Receipt API is its flexibility. It adapts both to the needs of a single beauty salon or hairdresser and to those of retail chains with larger transaction volumes. Thanks to integration with management systems, ERP and digital payment platforms, it becomes possible to connect tax transmission directly to sales flows, without duplication or misalignment. In this way, the connection between POS and telematic cash register becomes simple and immediate. With our solution:

  • reduce operating costs, because there is no need to buy a new telematic cash register;

  • simplify processes with a sustainable model and no manual input;

  • free up valuable time for other practical and customer-facing activities in the salon;

  • rely on reliable data and follow the whole chain, from sale to payment through to tax transmission;

  • ensure that customers make faster, safer and more transparent payments;

  • customise commercial documents with your logo and the colours you prefer.

Those who use Stripe for payments can adopt A-Cube's App for Stripe e-invoicing. This allows you to manage both the sending of electronic invoices (if requested by the customer) and electronic receipts in a single dashboard, even though, as explained in this article, they are two different documents. You can download the updated App directly from the Stripe Marketplace

Electronic receipt for beauty salons and hairdressers: the API-driven solution

In addition to being a legal obligation, the electronic receipt can become an opportunity to automate tax tasks that would otherwise have to be carried out manually every day. In this way, it frees up space for daily work and for commercial and customer relationships that are essential for the growth of the business.
